The Future of Community

Community 2.0 (C 2.0) is a place where people convene to co-create the next-generation community; a community that enables and celebrates lifelong learning, deep engagement in life, and adapting to global realities and quickly evolving technologies to seize opportunities therein.

Here We Go Again

Years ago I read a book by Dan Pallotta called “When Your Time Comes.” The book was about stepping into your life’s calling, and it really inspired me. You see, I’d already followed my dream one time in my life, when I started a nonprofit organization called , Leadership Pasadena. And here we go again, I feel I’m being called to step into the next chapter of my life, and starting a new organization called, Community 2.0.

Fixed Mindset vs. Growth Mindset

Your Unique Voice In All The World

Think about it, there will never be anyone exactly like you, ever, in all of humanity. No one else will ever be able to “dent the universe,” as you possibly can, to use the words of Steve Jobs. But will you do that…dent the universe, or will you settle for average like most of us will, retiring with our song or book still rattling in our heads?

The Glass Is Overflowing And Refillable

As we enter the New Year, I am reflecting on my life; the good the bad and the ugly. I guess I am struggling because everything is not going great, as I think it should. Most of it is going great, and yet I‘ve been dwelling on the part that isn’t. As an executive coach, I realize that we all go through times like this where we focus on what’s missing from our life, instead of focusing on what we have already accomplished; it’s the poor me syndrome, and we’ve all been there before. Here is what I tell people I coach in times like these.

Action Makes The Heart Grow Stronger

We have all heard that love makes the world go ‘round. And we all know that distance makes the heart grow fonder. But I’ll bet you didn’t know that action makes the heart grow stronger, at least when it comes to sustaining action toward your dreams!

Thomas Friedman should be in Community 2.0!

When I was reading Thomas Friedman's new book Thank You For Being Late: An Optimist's Guide to Thriving in the Age of Accelerations, I was shocked because I thought he was talking about Community 2.0! You can find Friedman's book...

Never Mind Setting Goals For 2017, Embark On A New Lifestyle!

I guess we all want to have a better New Year as compared to the last one, right? And the two quintessential questions are: How do I want it to be different, and how can I make my goals turn into a lifestyle that I can sustain. Goal setting doesn’t really work as proved in multiple past years. I’ve heard the number is as high as 90% of New Year’s resolutions aren’t kept. 90%! Then what? How do I sustain a new lifestyle?

The Next Chapter of Your Life

The next chapter of your life and mine has already been written. You and I dream about it all the time. It drifts by in bits and pieces in our daydreams and night-time dreams: the new car you’ll be driving, or the new boyfriend you want to ask out, or the job your kid will have when she grows up. Our opportunity is to take action more consistently towards our next dream and not just settle-in for a little while, or a long while, after achieving our last dream.

Make Love Not War

“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you will join us, and the world will live as one.” John Lennon’s lyrics to his classic song Imagine paint a vision that may seem far-fetched as America is roiling in the aftermath of the election. But we Americans have endured troubled times before, times that have ripped at the very fabric of our nation – think McCarthy hearings, Viet Nam war protests at Kent State, recent killings of minorities and authorities as well – and we will do it again. This too shall pass, the saying goes. The question is not will we survive, but in what state.
